REDMI recently launched its new tablet in the Philippines, the REDMI Pad 2. We recently reviewed this tablet, which you can check out here. But in this article, we’re going to test the gaming prowess of REDMI’s latest affordable tablet, the REDMI Pad 2. We’ll try our usual games and see if the REDMI Pad 2 can handle them.
We’ll begin our test with 97% battery and see how its large battery holds up.
Our first game is Mobile Legends. The default settings were set to a High frame rate with low power resolution.
Since higher options were available, we bumped it up to a Super High frame rate with HD resolution.
In terms of in-game performance, there were some noticeable FPS drops, usually during clashes, but nothing drastic. Overall, the performance held up with no other major issues.
Next is League of Legends: Wild Rift. The default settings were Quality with 30 fps, but we customized it to 90 fps, High graphics, and Medium on resolution and effects.
On the home screen, FPS dropped to 15, making navigation a bit sluggish. But once we got into a match, it was smooth throughout with no stutters.
Next up: Call of Duty: Mobile. Defaults were Medium graphics and Medium frame rate.
We changed it to Medium graphics with a High frame rate. During gunfights, we experienced some FPS drops, but they were manageable. No stutters or freezes, and loading times were quick.
I had a tough time during fights, probably because I’m not a fan of big screens.
Now let’s move to more graphically demanding titles, starting with Zenless Zone Zero.
We used Low + 60 fps settings. While exploring Subian Temple, we saw lots of stutters and even a freeze frame.
The combat was rough at first with big FPS drops, but improved later. Not recommended for endgame content, but should be fine for dailies or events.
Next is Genshin Impact, with the same Low + 60 fps settings. This one ran better than ZZZ.
Minor stutters and FPS drops happened, but nothing too annoying. Exploration was generally fine, and combat in Abyss ran smoothly with only slight drops. One downside: long loading screens. Still, it’s playable for dailies.
Lastly, we tested Wuthering Waves. Also on Low + 60 fps. This one had more FPS drops and stutters in exploration. Some areas were okay, but the visuals weren’t enjoyable.
Combat felt off too, hard to see parry or dodge cues, or maybe it’s just a skill issue. Compared to the other two ARPGs, this one performed the worst.
After 2 hours of gaming, we went from 97% to 81%, not bad!
For PHP 10,499, the REDMI Pad 2 did an impressive job with competitive games and gave a bearable performance on graphically demanding titles.
If you’re into ARPGs, I wouldn’t recommend this device. But if you’re just planning to do dailies while relaxing in bed, this could be a decent pick.
