The vivo V50 5G has been available in the Philippines for a while now, and it’s time to take a closer look at what this smartphone has to offer.
Aside from the ZEISS camera technology that the V series is known for, what other features make this device stand out?
How does it compare to its predecessor, which was released nearly six months earlier? Let’s dive in and find out.
The vivo V50 5G we have comes in the stunning mist purple color variant. The back panel is made of glass with a smooth matte-like finish that resists fingerprint smudges.
It retains the oval camera module with a premium-looking ring around the camera. The Aura Light feature has also been noticeably enlarged.
Despite its large battery, the V50 5G is surprisingly slim and weighs in at 199g. It has a plastic frame that mimics the look and feel of metal, with rounded edges that make it comfortable to hold despite its size.
On the frame, you’ll find the volume rockers and power button on the right side, while the speaker grille and microphone are placed on top.
At the bottom, the SIM card tray, USB-C charging port, and another microphone and speaker grille are positioned. This device also boasts IP68 and IP69 ratings, which provide a level of water and dust resistance not commonly seen in mid-range phones.
vivo made a smart choice by bringing back a flat display for the V50 5G, although it still has a slight curve on the edges.
This helps to reduce accidental touches. The phone features a 6.77-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2392×1080, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 450 nits.
The display quality is exceptional, with vibrant colors, sharp details, and excellent viewing angles. Its slim bezels and chin enhance the immersive experience when watching movies or playing games, and thanks to the high peak brightness, using the phone outdoors, even in direct sunlight, is no issue.
The vivo V50 5G comes with an impressive triple camera setup, a 50MP OIS main camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 50MP selfie camera.
When shooting in daylight, the rear cameras perform well, offering accurate white balance, rich detail, and a wide dynamic range.
The colors are natural, and there’s plenty of sharpness, making the camera great for photos in different lighting conditions.

Low-light performance is another strong point for the V50 5G. When there’s decent lighting, the phone can capture good-quality images, and using the Aura Light feature improves the results significantly.

The selfie camera also impresses, producing sharp images with great detail. It captures skin tones naturally without any harsh shadows or deep blacks.
For video recording, both the rear and front cameras can shoot up to 4K at 30fps, without stabilization, and 1080p at 30fps with stabilization.
Under the hood, the vivo V50 5G is powered by the 4nm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. The unit we tested comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.
It also supports expandable RAM, offering an additional 8GB or 12GB to help with multitasking.
The V50 5G performs smoothly for daily tasks, and it can handle both entertainment and productivity needs with ease. While there are occasional performance drops when opening multiple apps, they are minor.
In terms of gaming, we tried playing Zenless Zone Zero, and while the device performed decently, there were noticeable frame drops and stuttering. Despite this, the V50 5G manages well for most gaming needs.
Benchmark Results

The vivo V50 5G continues to refine the signature design and camera setup of the V series, offering a distinct look in the smartphone market.
With ZEISS camera technology, a high-quality display, and solid performance, this device competes well in the mid-range category. It’s an excellent choice for anyone looking for a camera-centric device with solid all-around performance.
