Sony recently announced the pre-order availability of its latest flagship wireless noise-canceling headphones in the Philippines, the Sony WH-1000XM6.
In terms of design, Sony has incorporated an asymmetrical headband design on the Sony WH-1000XM6, which is made of synthetic leather and is now wider, to help users identify the left and right sides. There are also soft earpads made for comfort, even in prolonged use.
The headphones also fold via metal-injected joints. Available colors are: White, Blue, and Black. It comes with a magnetically sealed carrying case.
For specifications, the Sony WH-1000XM6 features a new HD Noise Canceling Processor QN3, which is claimed to be seven times faster than its predecessor.
Accompanying it are twelve microphones that dynamically adjust noise cancellation based on the user’s surrounding environment. There’s also an Adaptive NC Optimizer, which further enhances performance based on levels and air pressure conditions.
The WH-1000XM6 is also equipped with a redesigned driver unit that helps to isolate external noise more effectively. The Auto Ambient Sound mode filters background noise selectively, letting in vital audio like announcements. Users can manually or automatically adjust these settings via the Sony Sound Connect app.
Moreover, its sound quality has been refined in collaboration with mastering engineers from Sterling Sound, Battery Studios, and Coast Mastering. The headphones’ carbon fiber dome and unique voice coil, which improve detail at all frequencies, support both classical and balanced sound profiles.
Like its previous versions, it supports Hi-Res audio and LDAC, with compressed audio files enhanced using Edge-AI and DSEE Extreme technology. Users can customize sound with a 10-band equalizer or choose from presets like Game EQ for shooters and Cinema 360 Reality Audio Upmix for movies.
For voice calls, a six-microphone beamforming system isolates speech from background noise, and there’s a dedicated mute button for convenience.
Smart features include Scene-based Listening, which uses sensors to automatically adjust playback and noise control based on the user’s activity and location. It’s compatible with popular streaming platforms such as Spotify Tap, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music. LE Audio with AuraCast offers low-latency playback and audio sharing, while Multi-Point and Auto Switch provide smooth transitions between connected devices.
Battery life reaches up to 30 hours with active noise cancellation turned on, and a quick three-minute USB-C charge delivers up to three hours of playback.
The Sony WH-1000XM6 is priced at PHP 27,999 and is now available for pre-order starting May 16 to June 20.
