vivo has officially expanded its budget-friendly Y series lineup with the vivo Y29, a smartphone made not just for everyday use, but also for mobile gaming.
We can’t deny that mobile gaming is extremely popular in the Philippines and continues to grow rapidly.
Many Filipinos now see mobile games as part of their daily entertainment. It’s more convenient than consoles or PCs, and you can play wherever you are, during breaks, while commuting, or even just lying in bed.
That’s why vivo designed the Y29 with features that support longer gaming sessions and daily durability, without going over budget.
One of the highlights of the vivo Y29 is its whopping 6500mAh BlueVolt battery, giving users longer gaming sessions.
Not only that, but the BlueVolt battery is also built to retain 80% capacity, ensuring reliable performance for up to 5 years.
Apart from the above-standard battery, it is also supported by 44W wired FlashCharge charging.
In our gaming test, the vivo Y29 performed well. After more than an hour of gaming with MLBB and CODM, the device didn’t heat up or lag.
Meanwhile, an hour-long session of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang used around 5% of the battery.
In Call of Duty Mobile, 30 minutes of continuous gameplay consumed about 4% of the battery.
Meanwhile, for our battery charging test, the device took 1 hour and 24 minutes from 0% to 100%
We also noticed that the sounds are pretty good because the vivo Y29 offers dual stereo speakers with a 400% audio booster.
In our experience, whether you’re in-game or streaming music and videos, the sound quality is loud, clear, and satisfying.
Listening to music outdoors is not a problem either. We tested it in an average outdoor environment with minimal noise, and the music was loud and clear.
Of course, durability matters too, especially for a phone that’s always in your hand.
And when it comes to your viewing experience, the vivo Y29 boasts a 6.68-inch IPS LCD screen with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.
The device also comes with SGS Five-Star Drop Resistance and Military Grade Certification, making it more resistant to daily knocks, accidental drops, and bumps.
This gives users extra peace of mind, especially for those who use their phones heavily or are always on the go.
The Y29 also comes with an IP64 rating, which means it’s protected from dust and light splashes, rain or shine, so you stay in the game.
Under the hood, the device is powered by a 6nm Snapdragon 685 chipset, paired with 8GB RAM plus 8GB Extended RAM, and 256GB of internal storage.
Downloading games such as Mobile Legends and Call of Duty Mobile was easy, thanks to the ample storage. You can still save files and photos without worry, as the device supports up to 2TB of additional storage via microSD.
As for the cameras, the vivo Y29 offers a 50MP main camera and a 2MP secondary sensor at the back.
On the front, it comes with an 8MP selfie shooter.
Despite its budget price, the vivo Y29 still manages to offer AI features like Circle to Search, AI Erase, and AI Photo Enhance.
